Jade and Dylan double act in supporting role

Fife Today, 5 October 2014

Past ‘X Factor’ entrant Jade Richards delivered a brief acoustic song set on Saturday in support of Marie Curie cancer care.

Superdrug in Leven was the venue as Jade - who works at the High Street store - teamed up with fellow employee Dylan Palfrey to perform some popular songs in favour of the cause, with customers encouraged to make donations or buy some special-edition Superdrug/Marie Curie products.

X Factor, 2011

With sappy background music and buckets of judges' tears:

Kelly Rowland: "I had a dream! ... Amazing! Oh my god! You have The X Factor and then some!"

Mungo Jerry's kid: "I have never heard some sing a song like they mean it so much!"

Gary Barlow: "Jade, that performance is going to change your life!"

Louis Walsh: "You just make the whole show worthwhile."

After audition:

Kelly Rowland: "I'm so proud of her! And just, really, excited to see what her future holds for her."

They should have told her the fact that the market can only bear a very small number of fat chicks who sing like Adele.

"Don't patronize," she sang.

You can't make most of the public love "BBW"s, no matter how well they can sing.

X Factor' Jade Richards in "make-or-break" audition

By Alex Fletcher, Metro UK, Sep 6 2013

Jade Richards starts her third X Factor journey on tonight's (September 7) audition show and the Scottish singer describes her latest audition as "make or break".

Richards was originally ditched from the show at the Judges' Houses stage in 2011 by Kelly Rowland. On last year's series, she didn't even make it past Boot Camp.

However, the 23-year-old tells the judges this evening that she has been motivated to try again by members of the public.

"I worked at a supermarket for a wee while and everybody that came told me to come back," she tells the panel.

"The more and more people said that, the more I thought, 'that's what I should do'. Falling at the last hurdle was devastating. Today is make or break. It's massive."

However, Gary Barlow is cautious about the returning act's chances, commenting: "What happened the first time, what happened the second time - is it going to happen again?"

XFactor 2013: Jade Richards get album deal after judges' houses axe

TellyMix, October 7, 2013

X Factor’s Jade Richards has signed an album deal and has begun recording, it’s been revealed.

The Scottish singer was rejected from the show for a third time at the weekend, having made it to judges’ houses for a second year.

Nicole Scherzinger decided to ditch the performer on Sunday night, along with Melanie McCabe and Relley Clark.

Speaking before the weekend’s show, Jade dismissed any future return, saying: “This will be the last time I do The X Factor – this time I’m more prepared than in previous years.”

The Fife singer added: “I rushed to go back last year and shouldn’t have done it.”

Now Jade has signed a record deal with Glasgow label The Boombox.

“Boombox just spotted me on X Factor – and that just shows what a great platform it is to be discovered,” Jade told the Evening Telegraph. “It was really nice for somebody to take an interest in my music, and we are starting on the album as soon as possible.”

Producers at the label have previously worked with the likes of Muse, Radiohead and even Michael Jackson.

Label boss John McLaughlin, who himself has worked alongside the likes of Westlife, Busted and Blue, commented: “We are going to get an album recorded and we are giving her a proper chance to get things going.

“I wanted to work with her because I’ve seen her sing and met her a few times in the last couple of years, and we get on really well.

“I think that Jade has an amazing voice, and everyone she has met through the X Factor says what an amazing tone she’s got.

“So we thought that we should be working with her and I think she will have a great recording voice.”

Stephen • Aaahhh this is great news. I only hope she's checked her contract for fairness and doesn't get shafted by them - I mean let's face it she's probably feeling vulnerable and in the face of someone loading on the praise like this John person you're probably going to be all the more pliable. The fact about Jade is pure and simple : she can just sing. Look at the mess of a boy band they put through - they're a mess and half of them simply CANNOT sing - but hey they look the part so they're through. My heart sank when I saw Jade didn't get put through and it's going to be a very dull year without her this year.

carry • Fantastic news Jade has a fabulous voice I will definitely buy her album. I thought it was a crime when she didn't get through in 2011 let alone this year.

ben • so glad she's got a record contract i'd love it if she out sells little mix and james arthur and this years winner (unless they bring melanie back as a wildcard then i hope they both outsell the previous winners)

Mongo ben • How can she outsell them though? They get non-stop hype about on all the major tv and radio stations. Everything about them (from relationships to their media personas) is faked to take money from gullible tweenagers. Jade's label has very little power within the industry so she will find it very difficult to have her music heard beyond her immediate fans. I'm just hoping she makes good music and makes enough to continue her career in the direction she wants on her terms.
