WHICH SCOTS ARE FORBIDDEN TO VOTE ON SCOTTISH "INDEPENDENCE"?

Scots are barred from voting if they are:
  • Resident outside of Scotland
  • Serving in the British Armed forces and registered as resident outside Scotland
  • Serving Her Majesty's Government outside of Scotland and registered as resident outside of Scotland

HOW MANY IN? HOW MANY OUT?

Based on 2011 Census results, approximately 424,000 (8% of 5,295,000) residents of Scotland classified themselves as non-Scottish and non-British. I have read in a number of newspaper articles that about 880,000 Scots are resident outside Scotland. The exact number would be very hard to determine, considering how many Britons have more than one ethnicity and have emigrated or are working or studying abroad. However their must be hundreds of thousands of Scots barred from voting, and hundreds of thousands of non-Scots and non-Brititons permitted to vote.
