Japanese Pervert Planned Natascha Kampusch Style Kidnap

Austria News, 24. 07.14

A Japanese man inspired by Austrian pervert Wolfgang Priklopil kidnapped a 10-year-old girl and kept her in a purpose-built cellar where he planned to train her to become the perfect wife.

The story of how Wolfgang Priklopil kidnapped 10-year-old Natascha Kampusch and held her for eight years in a purpose-built cellar, where she eventually became his girlfriend and lover, was one that went round the world.

And now Japanese police say that 49-year-old cartoonist Takeshi Fujiwara had attempted to carry out a carbon copy repeat of Priklopil's crime. He also targeted a 10-year-old girl, he also kidnapped her off the street while she was on her way to school, and he had also built a soundproofed secret room to keep her in. And finally, when arrested, he admitted that he wanted to make the girl into his lover.

The young girl had been kidnapped in Okayama Prefecture on the 14th July and was missing for five days before she was found at the 49-year-old man's home thanks to the child's mother. She had been suspicious of his car because it had driven past several times before the kidnapping took place and she had noted down part of the number plate.

Fujiwara has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and illegal confinement and when interviewed told police that he wanted to "raise her to be my ideal girl".

When officers burst into his home they discovered the child, named only as Sakura sitting watching cartoons in her pyjamas in a soundproof, windowless room that had been locked from the outside. According to detectives he had built the secret room at the end of last year at a cost of around 40,000 GBP.

Like nerdy computer technician Priklopil, Fujiwara also had few friends and lived alone at his home in Okayama's Kita Ward, where according to local residents he had little contact with anyone and seemed to avoid people. No evidence has been found that he held a regular job, but he told Okayama Prefectural Police at the time of his arrest that he was a children's cartoonist who worked from home.

Okayama kidnapping suspect had room built to hold girl
Home of man charged in abduction had soundproof walls, special locks

Kyodo NewsAgency, Staff Report, Jul 22, 2014

OKAYAMA – A man under arrest for kidnapping and confining an 11-year-old girl in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, had remodeled his home with an additional lock and soundproof walls to confine the girl for a long period, investigative sources said Monday.

With a well-meditated plan, Takeshi Fujiwara, 49, a self-described illustrator from the city of Okayama, wanted to “raise the girl as I wish,” he was quoted as telling the investigators.

The girl, Sakura Moriyama, was found at Fujiwara’s home late Saturday, taken to a hospital and was confirmed to have not been injured. Fujiwara was arrested at the scene. When investigators barged into the home Saturday night, he initially told them the girl was his wife, the investigators said.

The investigators also said they believe Fujiwara fed the girl snacks and showed her cartoons on television to keep her from escaping, noting that it was the large volume of snacks he purchased at a nearby store that led police to pinpoint him as a suspect.

According to the police, a room on the first floor of the house was modified in December to add another lock that can be locked and opened from outside.

Windows were removed after the room was made soundproof, they said.

A builder who undertook the remodeling work said it cost Fujiwara ¥8 million.

He has also reportedly told investigators that he took the girl away in a silver car by threatening her with a utility knife, saying he would kill her if she didn’t get into the car.

Moriyama vanished July 14 in Kurashiki after telling her mother on the phone that she would go home from school. Before the disappearance, a girl who looked like her was seen talking with a man beside a silver car near Moriyama’s home.

NHK said the silver car was frequently seen near her school since around February.
