KIKELAW: BAD KIKE BAD, BAD ENGLISH GOOD

UNDER KIKELAW: BAD KIKE BAD, BAD ENGLISHMAN GOOD

In Yann Vari Kerwerchez's 1943 novel, "En ur rambreal", the character Zakaria Abraham Rübenkranz is an ugly unpleasant Kike who is suspected of dealing in stolen goods.

Since this offended The Kike and its whores, the publisher of a 1980 reprint changed the kike character to an Englishman called J.R. Fatcher, since it's okay to have disreputable and unattractive Englishmen.

However, some of the descriptions of the Kike/Englishmen were also "politened" by the publisher. For example The line

Edo mab divalav meuriad ar Zabuloniz endeo ouzh taol.

(1943, p. 198)

(The ugly son of the tribe of Zabulon was already at the table.)

was changed to:

Fatcher a oa endeo ouzh taol.

(1980, p. 196).

(Fatcher was already at the table.)

Kerwerc'hez died in 1974.
